What is the CDCP
The Canadian Dental Care Plan is a federal program designed to improve access to dental care for eligible Canadian residents who do not have private dental insurance.
The program helps cover a portion of the cost for essential dental services, including:
- Dental exams and preventive care
- Cleanings and hygiene services
- Fillings and basic restorative treatments
- Tooth extractions and root canal therapy
- Complete / Partial Dentures and other major services (subject to approval)
Coverage is based on eligibility and may vary depending on income level and treatment type.
Who is Eligible
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is available to individuals who meet the program’s eligibility requirements.
You may be eligible if you:
- Do not have private dental insurance
- Have an adjusted family net income under $90,000
- Have filed your most recent tax return (if required)
- Meet the current CDCP requirements

Understanding Co-Payments
The CDCP may not cover 100% of all treatment costs. Depending on your income level and the type of service, a co-payment may apply.
In addition, the CDCP uses its own fee schedule, which may differ from standard dental fee guides. This means there may be a small balance remaining even for covered services.
We will always explain any costs clearly before proceeding with treatment.
